What is more welcome at this time of year than the glorious colours and scents of the flowers we only dream of over the winter months!  Flower Faire, the newest exhibition at UpTown Gallery is a feast for your eyes. The featured artists for this exhibit are multi-media artists Elaine Cowan, Jane Bayne, Mary Lou Hiller and Mary Guillaume.

The exhibition opens Thursday, May 23rd and continues until Tuesday, July 23rd, 2013.

The opening reception is Sunday, May 26 from 2 to 4 pm.

About the Artists:

Jane Bayne tours her garden and neighbourhood, camera in hand to catch blooms at their peak.  She uses watercolours and acrylics to capture these once a year moments of beauty.

Elaine Cowan: Watercolours and acrylics are used by Elaine Cowan to portray one of her favourite and inspiring subjects to paint - the beautiful colours of Springtime flowers.

Mary Guillaume is inspired by the delightful shapes and colours of the world of plants and flowers. She lives and works near St. Jacobs and is fortunate to be located next-door to the Bo-De Greenhouses – a favourite place to wander among the blooming plants that are nurtured from late winter on.

Mary Lou Hiller has sketched, painted, collaged and spiritually inhaled flowers all her life.  Whether using them as featured players or supporting cast in her work she has found them to be an inexhaustible source of colour and design inspiration.
