Mary Guillaume Mary has drawn and painted since childhood in Sault Ste. Marie, and has worked in oils, acrylics, pen and ink and pastels. After 30 years in Montreal where she had the opportunity to study sketch, life studies and art appreciation at McGill University’s adult classes, she retired to St. Jacobs in 1997 and began to work in watercolour. Mary has exhibited at the Waterloo Community Art Centre and Kitchener-Waterloo Society of Artists shows for many years as well as at the KOR Gallery in Kitchener, Kuntz House Gallery, Homer Watson Gallery, Kitchener Public Library and the Double T Gallery. Her work has been accepted in many juried shows, including the Central Ontario Art Association’s annual show. Mary is a member of the Central Ontario Art Association, Kitchener-Waterloo Society of Artists and a founding member of the Colour Wheel group of artists. Regardless of the medium or style, her goal is basically two-fold; to explore and enjoy the creative process, and to capture a mood, an emotional response or a striking visual image that speaks to the viewer’s experience as well as describing and recalling her own.
