Louise Marée
oil painter

Louise has had a lifelong affair with art, since her father first taught her to draw at an early age. The lingering smell of oil paints was a defining memory as Louise observed his artistry in various media. Louise, who was born along the Miramichi River, in New Brunswick, has worked as an Art Technician in England and spent time living in Manhattan, gaining insight into the professional side of being an artist. Eventually, she settled on an organic farm in Grey County along the Niagara Escarpment, and raised her daughters in nature’s creative world. New circumstances took Louise to Waterloo where, for 10 years, she was the part-time Staff and Volunteer Coordinator with the Canadian Clay and Glass Gallery. Louise has also volunteered at Homer Watson House and Gallery, received a citation from The City of Kitchener and The National Gallery of Canada for her contributions, acquired University credits in Art History, Modern Art, Colour and Drawing, and rediscovered her passion for painting. Presently she has all the time she could want and she spends part of every day painting, or planning her next painting. With her inspiration drawn from observing nature's design, Louise's style is impressionistic, letting the work lead her into its own realm of light and shadow.
