Jean’s lifelong interest in photography began in childhood with a Kodak Brownie camera, and continued as she honed her photography skills. In later years she has been fortunate to combine her love of photography with her love of travel. Jean has traveled to many countries – one of her travel highlights includes following the Silk Road from China to Central Asia and Iran. She has also visited Africa, India, Nepal, South East Asia, South America and New Zealand. Jean has given a large number of slide and digital travel presentations to a variety of groups. Since 2005, Jean has been guest photographer for Cruise North Expeditions. In this capacity she has photographed Arctic animals, people and northern landscapes. The resulting pictures have been purchased by tour companies and published in their brochures.

Jean was the official photographer for the University of Waterloo Engineering Alumni and for many years she covered a large variety of University events, with her pictures published in many UW publications. Over time Jean’s pictures have won numerous awards in advanced categories, and she currently she belongs to 3 camera clubs.

Jean is an accredited Toronto Photography Judge and has judged at professional and amateur photographic competitions.
